Designed
for a narrow band with high gain the helical antenna is circularly
polarized, can operate satisfactorily with vertically or horizontally
polarized signals as well as with circularly polarized signals in
the UHF range. This antenna is preferred at UHF range because its
construction is simple due to the small dimensions and also because
the required specifications can easily be met with.
Provided with a suitable reflector, this antenna has a low VSWR
in specified range. It operates with directivity or gain close
to the maximum at all frequencies in the specified frequency band.
Both
types of circular polarization either left hand or right hand, can
be provided depending upon the requirement. The type of circular
polarization is to be mentioned, as it is necessary for maximum
signal over a direct path that both the transmitting and receiving
antenna should be likely polarized.
Made
a Aluminium rod of suitable thickness, the antenna structure is
rugged in construction and portable. The antenna is provided with
feeding arrangement and suitable length of cable is also supplied
with.
